Journal Register Company began its history with its flagship newspaper, Connecticut's New Haven Register, first published more than 250 years ago in 1755. The other four dailies and many of the weekly newspapers in the Connecticut cluster trace their roots to the 19th century.
In the Philadelphia cluster The Times Herald of Norristown began publishing in 1799, while three other daily newspapers began in the 1870s.
Several newspapers in the Michigan cluster go back to the mid-19th century, including The Macomb Daily (1839) and The Oakland Press (1844).
