Yardley, PA – Journal Register Company, a leading local news and information company, announced today the election of Betsy Morgan to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Ms. Morgan, the former CEO of The Huffington Post, was recently appointed as CEO of The Blaze – an information network curating content and community debate.

“Betsy’s election to our corporate board dramatically increases our Digital IQ,” said John Paton, Chief Executive Officer of Journal Register Company. “Her knowledge along with the expertise of former AOL VP, Arturo Duran, who now runs our Digital operations, will be key to our success going forward.”
“Our Digital First strategy has been key to our Company’s successful turnaround,” said Paton citing Digital ad revenue as up 67% in Q4 2010 over the previous year with the majority of that revenue being Digital-only ad sales not tied to any print campaign. The advertising performance was in step with the Company’s Digital audience which grew 75% last year to 7.3 million unique visitors per month. “I think that performance is the result of our strategy of putting the Digital folks in charge of our overall content and sales operations last year,” Mr. Paton said.
“As part of Journal Register Company’s Advisory Board for the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with the Company close up. I’ve been impressed by John’s Digital First strategy and management’s focus on innovation in newsgathering and an ongoing dialogue with their audience. I’m excited to be joining Journal Register’s Board at this important time in the Company’s history,” Ms. Morgan said.
